Got a folder of mixed PNGs, BMPs, SVG icons and WebPs that need to become one format? Drop them all in, pick JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF, and download the whole set as a ZIP, converted on your own machine.

Overview
The converter reads JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG files. Each one is decoded by the browser and drawn to a canvas, then re-encoded in the target format. Animated GIFs are converted using their first frame only, since JPG, PNG and canvas-encoded WebP produce still images. SVG files are rasterized at their natural size, which turns scalable vector artwork into a fixed-size pixel image.
Choosing a format comes down to content and destination. JPG is universally compatible and efficient for photographs, but it has no transparency, so the tool asks for a background color to fill transparent areas, white by default for most uses. PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, ideal for logos, screenshots and graphics. WebP supports both lossy and transparent images and is typically 25–35% smaller than JPEG at similar visual quality. AVIF can be smaller still, often around half the size of JPEG, and is offered when your browser supports encoding it.
For lossy outputs, a single quality slider applies to the whole batch. Values around 80 are a sensible default for photos; lower values shrink files further but introduce blockiness and smeared detail, particularly in skies and skin. Because conversion happens in the browser, the only limit on batch size is your device’s memory. A few hundred typical photos is well within reach on a modern laptop, and the results come back as a single ZIP so you don’t have to click through hundreds of downloads.
| Format | Compression | Transparency | Typical size vs JPG | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JPG | Lossy | No | Baseline | Photos, maximum compatibility |
| PNG | Lossless | Yes | Often 2–5× larger for photos | Logos, screenshots, graphics |
| WebP | Lossy or lossless | Yes | About 25–35% smaller | Websites and apps |
| AVIF | Lossy or lossless | Yes | Often around 50% smaller | Modern websites where supported |
Drop your images onto the page or select them from a folder.
Choose the output format: JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF (if available).
Set the quality for lossy formats and a background color for JPG transparency.
Download all converted images as a ZIP.
Use cases
Convert an entire uploads folder of JPGs and PNGs to WebP to cut page weight, then swap the files in your CMS or static site.
Turn WebP and AVIF images downloaded from the web into JPG or PNG so older editors, printers or office apps can open them.
Rasterize a set of SVG or ICO icons into PNGs for a slide deck, a document or a platform that doesn’t accept vector files.
Pro tips
Answers to common questions about the batch converter.
Only the first frame is converted. The output formats here are produced as still images, so animations are not preserved.
JPG cannot store transparency. Transparent pixels are filled with the background color you choose, which defaults to white. Use PNG, WebP or AVIF to keep transparency.
SVGs are rasterized at the width and height defined in the file. If an SVG has no size information, the browser uses a default, so check the result if your icons come out unexpectedly small.
PNG output is lossless. JPG, WebP and AVIF are lossy, so quality depends on the slider; around 80 keeps photos visually close to the source while saving significant space.
This tool only converts. If you also want to resize or use social media presets, use the Batch Image Processor, which handles resize, convert and compress in one pass.
