Need a PNG as a JPG for a form, or a folder of JPGs as WebP for your website? Drop the files in, pick a target format and download the results one at a time or as a ZIP. Conversion happens on your device, so the images never leave it.

Overview
Every image format makes a different trade-off. JPEG is lossy and has no transparency, but it is universally supported and efficient for photos. PNG is lossless and supports a full alpha channel, which makes it ideal for logos, screenshots and graphics, though photos saved as PNG are often five to ten times larger than the JPEG equivalent. WebP supports both lossy and lossless modes plus transparency, and AVIF, based on the AV1 video codec, usually produces the smallest files of all at a given quality.
The converter reads anything your browser can decode: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO and SVG. Each file is drawn onto a canvas and re-encoded as JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF. AVIF output appears only when your browser supports encoding it. For animated GIFs, only the first frame is converted. EXIF orientation is applied during decoding, so phone photos that were stored sideways come out the right way up.
For the lossy formats (JPG, WebP and AVIF) a quality slider controls the size/fidelity balance. PNG is lossless, so the slider has no effect there. JPEG has no transparency, so when you convert a transparent PNG, WebP or SVG to JPG the empty areas need a fill. Choose white, black, light grey or any custom colour with the background picker; white is the safe choice for documents and product shots.
Batch conversion processes every file you add with the same settings, and a ZIP button bundles the results. Because the work is done locally with the Canvas API, there is no queue and no upload wait. Speed depends only on your device and the size of the images.
| Format | Compression | Transparency | Animation | Best for |

Add images by dragging them onto the page or clicking to browse.
Choose the output format: JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
For JPG, WebP or AVIF, set the quality slider.
If your images have transparency and you chose JPG, pick a background colour.
Download each converted file or all of them as a ZIP.
Use cases
Convert a folder of JPG or PNG images to WebP before uploading them to your CMS. WebP keeps transparency and typically saves a quarter to a third of the file size.
Some portals accept only JPG. Convert PNG, WebP or AVIF files to JPG with a white background so they pass validation and look clean.
Images saved from websites are often WebP, which older editors and some office software can’t open. Turn them into PNG or JPG in a couple of clicks.
Turn an SVG logo or an old ICO file into a PNG that works in slide decks, documents and social posts.
Pro tips
Answers to common questions about the image converter.
Only the first frame is converted, because the Canvas API decodes a single still image. The result is a static JPG, PNG, WebP or AVIF.
JPEG has no alpha channel, so transparent pixels must be filled with a solid colour. White is the default; you can choose black, light grey or a custom colour instead.
AVIF usually compresses better, but encoding is slower and older software may not open it. WebP has broader support across apps and is supported in all modern browsers. For websites, WebP is the safer default.
No. The converter keeps the original width and height. Use the Image Resizer if you also need different dimensions.
SVGs are drawn at their intrinsic size, meaning the width and height declared in the file. If an SVG declares no size, a sensible default of about 1024 px is used. For a specific size, set dimensions in the SVG or resize the result afterwards.
No. ToolEnhancer processes files on your own device inside the browser. They are never sent to, stored on or seen by our servers.
Yes. The image converter is free to use with no sign-up, no watermarks and no daily limits.
