Phone photos sometimes arrive sideways, scans come in upside down, and selfies are mirrored. Turn images in 90° steps, flip them horizontally or vertically, and fix a whole batch in one pass, all without installing an editor or uploading a single file.

Overview
Cameras don’t physically rotate the sensor data when you turn the phone. Instead they write an EXIF orientation tag, a number from 1 to 8, telling viewers how to display the image. Some apps and websites ignore that tag, which is why a photo can look correct in your gallery and sideways once uploaded. Rotating here bakes the correct orientation into the pixels themselves, so the image displays the same way everywhere.
Rotation works in 90° steps: left (counter-clockwise) and right (clockwise), giving 0°, 90°, 180° or 270° in total. A 90° or 270° turn swaps the width and height, so a 4000 × 3000 landscape becomes 3000 × 4000 portrait. Mirroring horizontally swaps left and right, which corrects selfies taken with a front camera that saved a mirror image. Flipping vertically turns the image upside down as a reflection, which is different from a 180° rotation because text ends up reversed.
The tool redraws each image on a canvas with the chosen transform and saves it in its original format: JPG stays JPG and PNG stays PNG, with transparency kept for PNG and WebP. You can apply the same rotation and flip to every file in a batch and download the results individually or as a ZIP.
| EXIF value | Stored image is | Fix needed |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Upright | None |
| 2 | Mirrored horizontally | Mirror horizontally |
| 3 | Rotated 180° | Rotate 180° |
| 4 | Mirrored vertically | Flip vertically |
| 5 | Transposed (mirrored across the diagonal) | Mirror horizontally, then rotate left 90° |
| 6 | Rotated 90° counter-clockwise | Rotate right 90° |
| 7 | Transversed (mirrored across the other diagonal) | Mirror horizontally, then rotate right 90° |
| 8 | Rotated 90° clockwise | Rotate left 90° |

Click rotate left or rotate right until the orientation is correct.
Use mirror horizontally or flip vertically if needed.
Download the corrected images, or all of them as a ZIP.
Use cases
Fix images that show up rotated on websites, forums or in Windows apps because the viewer ignored the EXIF orientation tag.
Front cameras often save a mirror image, so text on a shirt or a sign reads backwards. A horizontal mirror puts it right.
Rotate a stack of pages that were scanned upside down or sideways before combining them into a PDF.
Mirror artwork for iron-on transfers, T-shirt printing or window decals that are applied from the reverse side.
Pro tips
Answers to common questions about the rotate & flip.
The image is redrawn and re-encoded, so a JPG goes through one more compression pass. At normal quality levels the difference isn’t visible. PNG rotation is lossless.
Rotating 180° turns the picture upside down while keeping text readable when you turn your head. Flipping vertically creates a mirror reflection, so text appears reversed.
A 90° or 270° rotation turns a landscape image into a portrait one and vice versa, so the dimensions trade places.
No. This tool rotates in exact 90° steps, which keeps every pixel and avoids empty corners. Straightening by small angles needs a crop-and-rotate editor.
Yes, images are decoded with their orientation applied, so the preview shows what you would see in a photo viewer. Your rotation is then applied on top and baked into the saved file.
No. ToolEnhancer processes files on your own device inside the browser. They are never sent to, stored on or seen by our servers.
